Day 1:

Highlights: ARRIVAL IN CAPE TOWN & CITY ORIENTATION TOUR

 

  • Arrival in Cape Town. Your guide meets you at Cape Town International Airport.
  • Start your tour of Cape Town with a drive through city orientation tour.

Overnight: Cape Town

Day 2:

Highlights: CAPE POINT in the CAPE OF GOOD HOPE NATURE RESERVE & AFRICAN PENGUINS

·         Today tour to Cape Point which forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. The Nature Reserve is recognized globally for its extraordinary land formations, rich and diverse fauna and unique flora. It is the south western tip of the African continent.

·         Also included in this ecological tour is a visit to Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, where there will be unsurpassed opportunities for photography and observation of the rare African Penguin. From mating to moulting, breeding to bathing, their daily lives are played out within a few meters of fascinated visitors.

Day 3:

Highlights: TABLE MOUNTAIN & KHWA TTU SAN CULTURAL CENTRE

  • Visit one of South Africa's most famous landmarks Table Mountain (Weather dependent).
  • The rocky outcrops and steep cliffs of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animals. Exhilarating trip in a rotating cable car to the top of Table Mountain where the Dassie (Rock Hyrax), the closest living relative to the elephant, roam wild. Be guided through the natural wonders on the flat quartzite top whilst enjoying an awe-inspiring view of the Cape of Storms.

·         Then travel to !Khwa Ttu. Enjoy lunch here (traditional West Coast delicacies – own account) before departing on a guided San Experience.

This 850 ha nature reserve on the West Coast just outside Cape Town where impeccably renovated old farm buildings house the San Culture & Education Centre, is a place dedicated to the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa, the San or Bushmen. It is a choice destination for the discerning tourist who wishes to meet and learn about South Africa’s First People, while enjoying a beautiful natural setting in the unique West Coast environment.

Day 4:

Highlights: WINELANDS INCLUDING HISTORICAL ESTATES, VARIOUS TASTINGS AND SOUTH AFRICA’S SECOND OLDEST TOWN - STELLENBOSCH

 

  • Visit some of the other excellent wine estates in the Stellenbosch wine area for tastings.

 

  • In the afternoon drive through South Africa’s second oldest town, Stellenbosch, home to the University of Stellenbosch and some other beautiful heritage sites.

 

  • Return to Cape Town in the late afternoon. Lunch can be enjoyed either in town or at one of the wine estates (own account).

Day 5:

Highlights: DAY AT LEISURE TO EXPLORE – OPTION OF SHOPPING AT V&A WaterfronT

 

  • Enjoy an unguided day at leisure.
  • Option of spending time exploring the V&A Waterfront – South Africa’s most popular tourist destination.

Day 6:

Highlights: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens & robben island

·         In the morning visit the breathtaking Kirstenbosch, one of the world's most famous botanical gardens and renowned for the splendour and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

·         Be enriched by the incredible beauty of the Cape Floral Kingdom at its best. The estate covers 528 hectares and supports a diverse fynbos flora and natural forest. The cultivated garden (36 hectares) displays collections of South African plants, predominantly those from the winter rainfall region of South Africa.

·        In the afternoon join the ferry to Robben Island (weather dependent) where you will depart for your 3.5 hour trip.

  • Robben Island is today a symbol of both oppression and freedom and thus provides a precious insight into our humanity.

Day 7:

Highlights: SCENIC COASTAL DRIVE TO HERMANUS INCLUDING HAROLD PORTER BOTANICAL GARDENS

  • In the afternoon drive to Hermanus. Along the beautiful False Bay Coast line stop at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens. Pollination, seed dispersal and germination - there is always something happening and a story to be told. Enjoy a walk through the gardens.

 

Overnight: Hermanus

Day 8 & 9: Time in Hermanus – guide & vehicle available for both days.

 

  • Time at leisure to visit the beach and enjoy walks in Fernkloof Nature Reserve - This predominantly fynbos reserve is conveniently situated almost in the centre of Hermanus and all along the coast and gives very easy access to a number of the region’s special bird and plant species.
  • There will also be the option of enjoying an afternoon wine tasting at one of the famous wineries in the Overberg area.

Day 10:  

·         Departure from Hermanus to Cape Town Airport - transfer included. Afternoon/evening flight out of Cape Town to allow transfer time
