Full DescriptionDetailed Itinerary

Day 1: (meals at own expense) – Table Mountain hike & abseil

On arrival in Cape Town you will be met by a representative at Cape Town International, from where you will be transferred to your accommodation at The Backpack. You will spend the next 4 nights here in a double room with en-suite bathroom. After check in we take you off to Table Mountain where you will begin a guided hike up the Platteklip Gorge (alternative routes can be arranged depending on your level of experience). After this scenic hike you will begin your abseil over a 112 meter cliff. They call it “Dope on a Rope!” Your abseil guide will brief you on the safety and technique and you will then go over the edge. On completion of your abseil and after taking some awesome pictures you will catch the cable car down the mountain (cable car ticket not included). We will then drop you off at The Backpack for the rest of the evening at your own leisure. Meals are at your own expense.

Day 2: (lunch included) – Cape Peninsula tour /hike/biking

You will be picked up from your accommodation for a sight-seeing trip of the Cape Peninsula and the Cape Point. This also includes some fun and easy mountain biking in the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Join us on a journey of discovery as we explore the splendour of the Cape Peninsula in Cape Town. We follow the Atlantic Seaboard, past Clifton & Camps Bay, to the fishing hamlet of Hout Bay for an optional boat cruise to Duiker Island to experience thousands of Cape Fur Seals in their natural habitat (R45). We continue along the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive to Simon's Town to meet up with a colony of rare African Penguins at Boulders Beach. Once inside the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, we swap four wheels for two to get some fresh air into our lungs and to build up a healthy appetite. Our legendary scrumptious picnic lunch will then be served somewhere in the reserve. After lunch we hike to the top lighthouse at Cape Point and then to the Cape of Good Hope. Both hikes offer breathtaking vistas and REAL fresh air! We return home via Scarborough and Kommetjie. On completion of you Cape Peninsula Tour you will be dropped off at your accommodation for the rest of the day and night at leisure.
Day 3: (meals at own expense) – Cape Winelands Tour

This is a truly mellow day with absolutely no exercise involved... except for the lifting of your wine glass to taste the liquid of life! During the day you will visit three regions of the Cape Winelands: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, with a tasting in each region and a cellar tour at one of the farms. All the wine farms offer a variety of white and red cultivars, as well as their own blends & styles. We allow enough time for each tasting to fully appreciate and enjoy the wine master’s art.

Wake up and let’s go! Today you will be reaching terminal velocity as you plunge out of a plane from 9000ft. Tandem Skydiving in Cape Town must be done as this drop zone is rated as one of the most beautiful in the world. Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean will be your backdrop as you free fall for 30 seconds with a qualified tandem skydive instructor attached to you. On completion of your adrenalin fuelled experience we will transfer you back to your accommodation for the rest of the day and night at leisure.

Day 5:

Today you will unfortunately be leaving us so after check out we will transfer you to the airport.

NOTE: the package can also be booked with a Garden Route Extension!

Accommodation Information:

You will spend 4 nights in the centrally located Backpack (see for more details under 'Gems in Southern Africa'). This award-winning hostel is South Africa's original backpacker. Superbly situated with easy access to the city, Table Mountain and the gorgeous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, it's super-organized, friendly, fun and home to many a traveling legend. The swimming pool winks at the mountain, the café’s food hits the spot and the barbeques are not to be missed. And, after 19 years of practice they have been taking care of travelers down pat.

The Backpack can accommodate a 100 people, however, it is not the standard high-rise building with floors of rooms that are all the same. All their rooms are different, spread over four 100 year-old Victorian houses, with courtyards and gardens. They provide linen with all their room types.

They have a stunning bar and cafe with the most awesome views of Table Mountain. The huge collection of African music gives the bar a funky African vibe. Their food is good and home-cooked – besides full-on safari breakfasts, the menu also includes home-made burgers, fresh pasta and salads, pizzas and wraps. They serve great cappuccinos and have a fully licensed bar for those African party nights. You can have a game of pool, play backgammon or chess on our custom-built mosaic tables or just hang out next to the fire chatting to fellow travelers. At night the cafe transforms itself into a bar and that's when the fun starts. You'll meet fellow backpackers, have random chats with strangers. It's all good fun!
