ITINERARY

Day 1 - Johannesburg to the Kruger National Park This morning we depart from your hotel in Johannesburg between 06:30 and 07:00 and we begin to head for the Kruger National Park. On our travels we have the opportunity to stop and visit sights on the beautiful Panorama Route. The Panorama Route along the Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga is arguably one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. Here, in the northeastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines abruptly and steeply and opens up fantastic views of the plains of the Lowveld up to a thousand metres below, The most spectacular stretch is the Blyde River Canyon which is the 3rd largest canyon in the world and unlike the Fish River Canyon in Namibia and the Grand Canyon in America, it is filled with lush vegetation and wildlife. It’s also the largest forested and green canyon in the world. Just a few kilometers north of Graskop a short loop road leads to "God’s Window", from where you will enjoy a wonderful view of the Lowveld. The Canyon starts at "Bourke’s Luck Potholes" and ends at the "Three Rondawels". From many well-positioned vantage points one can view the 33 km long gorge. The Potholes are spectacular rock formations that were shaped eons ago by erosion. The bizarre swirl holes developed when the once rapid flowing Blyde and Treur rivers that confluence here carried masses of sand and debris with them. We will stop for lunch at the famous Harries Pancakes (Included) during our exploration of the Panorama Route before we continue to the Kruger. Upon arrival to the park via the Paul Kruger gate we enter into the reserve and make our way to our campsite. Keep your eyes open en route to camp, We are in Big 5 territory and sightings can happen at any moment! Arriving in the late afternoon we set up camp, light the fire and relax, enjoying the African sunset and a few sundowners, exploring the restcamp and even walking along the fence border. Dinner follows – A traditional South African braai (Included) before we settle in for the night.

Day 2 – Kruger National Park This morning we meet at the main area, climb onto the open vehicles and make our way to a secluded section of the Kruger. We disembark from the vehicles and continue on a game walk in the park. All walking safaris in the Greater Kruger Park area are guided by at least one experienced safari ranger with an extensive knowledge of the area, wildlife, birds and of course the indigenous vegetation. Enjoy tracking the wild African wildlife, which includes Lion, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant and Leopard as you move in and out the Savannah grasslands and low-lying veld. Breakfast packs will be sent with you for your walk and enjoyed in the natural bush. You will return back to camp for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation before we climb back into our vehicle and head off into the park for an afternoon of game viewing and sundowners alongside one of the waterholes. Back at our chalets we light up a fire and enjoy a delicious braai under the starts. We retire to bed to get ready for another full day in the park.

Day 3 - Kruger National Park This morning we wake once again early and head off into the Kruger for a fantastic day of game viewing in fantastic open safari vehicles. We stick to the S100, An area well known for its large concentration of lion, leopard and elephant and then stop off at Nwanetsi picnic spot for a delicious breakfast and spend a bit of time enjoying the hide that overlooks the Lebombo Mountains before heading back towards camp. We arrive back at camp in time for lunch and an afternoon to relax and unwind before heading back into Kruger in search of the game prolific to the area. We arrive at camp in the late afternoon and enjoy an early dinner before meeting at the main area of camp in order to depart on a night drive in the hopes of viewing the nocturnal game that are more active at night. The night drive departs 2 hours after the gates close, generally around 20h00 and you return back to camp after your drive around 22h00 and settle in for the night.

Day 4 – Kruger National Park This morning we recieve an early wake up call from our guide and we enjoy tea and coffee before we jump in the open vehicle and make our way out of the camp gate and into the Kruger. We head off following one of the Kruger’s most popular drives - We traverse the park through a diverse mix of thornveld and mixed woodland into mopaneveld over a series of different geological zones – granites, gabbro, ecca shales and basalt we head towards the Timbavati Picnic Spot. The name Timbavati is derived from the Shangaan for “brackish water”, yet this tributary of the Olifants River is a reliable water source for game in the central region of the Kruger. Arriving at our picnic spot we cook up a delicious full English breakfast before we depart back into the park and head back to camp. We arrive back at our chalets just in time for lunch. You then have a few hours to rest up, relax around the pool and enjoy the camp before we depart once again into the Kruger in search of more game that call the reserve home. We return back to camp just before the gates close, prepare our dinner and spend a bit of time exploring the camp in search of smaller nocturnal creatures including owls, genets and the hyaenas that often frequent the camp fences.

Day 5: - Kruger National Park Today we spend a full day in the park in search of the animals we havent seen as yet, We stick close to water sources and drive along the cool riverbeds and spend time at waterholes in the hopes of seeing an incredible sighting that the Kruger is famous for. During our drives we will stop at picnic spots for breakfast and lunch before making our way back to camp in the late afternoon. After a bit of time to relax and refresh we enjoy an early dinner and then celebrate our last night in the reserve by embarking on another late night drive which departs from camp at 20h00. Returning from your drive we relax around the fire and enjoy a nightcap before bed. Day 6 – Kruger to Johannesburg This morning we wake early and spend a bit of time packing up our camp. We then head out into the Kruger and stop off at one of the picnic spots for breakfast and a few last photos to remember our trip before we exit the Kruger and make our way back to our departure point.
